Creative Food Art Director - Freelance

We’re looking for a freelance Creative Food Art Director to lead the creation of AI-generated food imagery that feels both photorealistic and culturally authentic. You’ll be the bridge between client requests and AI generative artists, crafting art direction debriefs that spark clarity and creativity.

This role is more than directing pixels — it’s about ensuring that every plate, pastry, and dish we create with AI reflects global culinary cultures and emerging food trends with realism that makes people look twice.

We need someone ready to dive in as soon as possible, full-time for at least a month, with the potential to grow into a longer-term collaboration.

What you’ll do

• Translate client briefs into clear, inspiring art direction for AI generative artists.

• Guide the creative process to ensure outputs meet high standards of realism and cultural accuracy.

• Keep a sharp eye on visual quality — from the crispness of textures to the authenticity of regional food styles.

• Research and integrate global culinary trends into the creative process.

• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to refine workflows and push creative possibilities.

What you’ll bring

• Proven experience as an Art Director in food photography, food styling, or visual arts.

• A strong portfolio showcasing food-related creative direction or imagery.

• Understanding of global food cultures and aesthetics.

• Comfort working with AI-generated imagery (experience with generative tools is a plus).

• Ability to communicate complex ideas in a simple, visual way.

• A collaborative, humble mindset with a sharp eye for detail.
