Freelance Fashion Retoucher

Job description
INDG is looking for a Freelance Fashion Retoucher to support high-volume image production for fashion and sportswear brands on a project basis.
INDG has spent 20+ years building visual production systems across CGI, 3D, product visualization, and enterprise content workflows. Today, that heritage extends into AI-assisted production, automated content pipelines, and large-scale visual output for brands that need consistency across thousands of assets.
This role exists because visual quality still depends on sharp human judgment. Automation can accelerate batches, routing, and repeatable production steps, but the final image still needs a retoucher who can see skin texture, fabric response, clipping edges, color drift, seams, reflections, and brand-specific visual standards.
You’ll work across on-model fashion imagery, sportswear campaigns, packshots, apparel/footwear, textiles, still life, and e-commerce image sets. The work is production-driven: clean files, consistent color, repeatable decisions, fast handoff, and images that hold up across channels.
You are not here to make one image perfect in isolation. You are here to help deliver large sets of production-grade images that feel consistent, sharp, and aligned with the brand’s visual identity.
What You Will Do
Retouch talent imagery with precision
Deliver expert-level Photoshop retouching across on-model fashion and sportswear imagery. You’ll handle skin cleanup, dodge & burn, frequency separation, body and garment refinement, flyaway hair, wrinkles, folds, and small distractions without flattening texture or over-processing the image.
Finish product and packshot assets at scale
Retouch product imagery including apparel, footwear, accessories, textiles, still life, and packshots. You’ll clean seams, dust, fabric pulls, glue marks, stitching issues, reflections, color inconsistencies, and shape distortions while preserving material character.
Maintain consistency across large batches
Work through high-volume image sets while keeping color, contrast, crops, masks, background treatment, skin tone, textile detail, and product representation aligned with brand guidelines. You’ll make decisions that scale across a full delivery, not just a single file.
Spot technical issues before they move downstream
Identify and correct color casts, uneven lighting, masking artifacts, texture loss, compression problems, moiré, poor clipping paths, inconsistent whites, edge contamination, and mismatched product color. You’ll prepare files for production handoff with clean layers, clear structure, and reliable output.
Job requirements
Who You Are
You live at the intersection of image craft and production discipline. You can work quickly, but you do not confuse speed with roughness. You know when an image needs detailed handwork, when a batch rule can solve the problem, and when a visual issue should be escalated before it affects the full delivery.
You Have
Professional experience as a retoucher in fashion, sportswear, e-commerce, studio production, or visual content delivery.
Strong Photoshop command, including masking, clipping paths, compositing, dodge & burn, frequency separation, color correction, color grading, cleanup, and non-destructive file setup.
Experience working across both talent retouching and product retouching, with a portfolio that shows skin, garments, textiles, footwear, packshots, and still life.
Comfort working inside production workflows where deadlines, naming conventions, feedback rounds, brand standards, and image counts matter.
You Think
A retouching decision should improve the image without destroying the material, skin, garment, or product truth.
Consistency matters more than isolated perfection when delivering a full batch.
A clean mask, accurate product color, and believable fabric texture are production requirements, not finishing touches.
Automation, batch processing, presets, and AI-assisted tools are useful when they support quality and control.
Your Skills Are
Adobe Photoshop at expert level.
Skin retouching, dodge & burn, frequency separation, healing, cloning, masking, clipping, compositing, garment cleanup, and product cleanup.
Color correction for skin, fabric, footwear, backgrounds, whites, blacks, and brand-specific palettes.
File discipline: layered PSDs, non-destructive workflows, naming conventions, version control, and handoff-ready delivery.
Visual judgment: you can look at an image and identify whether the issue is lighting, color, material response, masking, texture, reflection, or compositing.
